Classic Texture, our most popular pool deck coating, is known in the industry for staying cooler than plain gray concrete and most paver surfaces. The acrylic finish reflects heat rather than absorbing it, and the texture reduces the amount of surface area that contacts bare feet. Color matters too: lighter shades like Bone White and Kahlua stay significantly cooler than dark ones.
It depends on the severity. Minor surface cracks are not a problem. In many cases, we use our Custom Scoreline technique to work existing cracks into the design of the new surface rather than trying to hide them. For more significant structural damage, we assess the deck first and make repairs before any coating goes down. Most slabs are good candidates for resurfacing.
Before any coating goes down, the existing concrete needs a proper assessment and preparation. If the surface isn't prepared correctly, the coating won't hold.
