Texas Hill Country Vineyard Revitalized with Concrete Coatings
At Singing Water Vineyards in Texas Hill Country, SUNDEK of San Antonio resurfaced this patio and stairs using SUNDEK’s Tuscan finish.At Singing Water Vineyards in Texas Hill Country, guests can sip wine under majestic oak trees while enjoying spectacular views of the rolling hills beyond. When they took ownership of the vineyard, co-owners Andy and Missy Ivankovich made some visual improvements to the concrete on the property, but just a couple years later, the stain on the concrete was starting to wear off. The two knew they wanted to take the right steps to maintain the property’s gorgeous aesthetic but doing so required finding the right contractor. After SUNDEK of San Antonio installed decking around their private pool and home, Andy and Missy were convinced they needed SUNDEK to work on the concrete surfaces at the vineyard, too.
Get a free resurfacing estimate“When I got to the winery, it was amazing to actually look at the attention to detail they’d put out here,” says Steve Scott, sales associate for SUNDEK of San Antonio. “The setting and the environment are really impressive.” To get a feel for which coatings would be best for the walkways and common areas at the winery, Steve walked the property several times with the owners. He also considered the nearby landscape—rugged hillsides of limestone and granite.

With Tuscan, SUNDEK crews place a thin coating on top of the existing concrete (after proper preparation). Next, they hand-trowel the overlay to create a customized texture. From there, crews place scorelines to create the look of stone if desired. Tuscan provides a high-end look without needing to apply a thick coating, making it an affordable resurfacing option for clients.
Tuscan can be used in both indoor and outdoor locations such as patios, pool decks, walkways, driveways, outdoor kitchens, and courtyards. Clients love this coating for spaces where people gather because it’s so durable and easy to clean.
Several walkways on the property were resurfaced with Classic Texture, providing a clean look that doesn’t get too hot, is slip resistant, and easy to clean.For the color of the Tuscan coating, Andy and Missy opted for an off-white shade that would coordinate nicely with the yellows and browns in the stonework on the property. In addition to looking great in the vineyard’s setting, this neutral color is a perfect choice for the location because the light color will prevent the surface from getting too hot on sweltering summer days.

For other walkways, the owners decided on Classic Texture, one of SUNDEK’s most popular coatings. This knockdown texture overlay doesn’t get too slippery when wet, and, like the Tuscan finish, is also easy to clean. Like the Tuscan finish, it also manages to stay comfortable even on extremely hot days.
After watching the installation process at the vineyard, Andy described SUNDEK of San Antonio crews as “artists,” saying that everything “just looked perfect” when it was completed. In fact, when a guest first saw the area of the property that was finished with Tuscan, he thought Andy and Missy had installed real stone. “When I told him it wasn’t stone, he was blown away,” laughs Andy.
On top of the stunning installation work SUNDEK completed, Andy and Missy are pleased with the customer service that follows. “If there’s a little nick or crack that appears, SUNDEK comes out and repairs that,” Andy shares. “It’s unique and refreshing for a company to provide that service.”
